Overtone Software (www.overtonesoftware.com) was launched in 2003 by a group of storage-experienced engineers and businesspeople who predicted that the information convergence, data growth rates and regulator compliance would redraw storage paradigms. This would require new solution sets, such as lifecycle systems, reporting, open-search and open-formats to provide “the finishing touch” to best-of-breed applications and storage solutions.

As a reference point, Overtone Software takes its name from the realm of acoustical physics. “Overtones” signify waves of harmonic frequencies generated out of a reference frequency. In the same way, we seek to create products that become a harmonic or overtone of an existing system for people, software and hardware. in a way that enhances, not disrupts, the solutions already in place.
