OVERTONE SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES ARCHIVING SOLUTION FOR MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT PORTAL SERVER

Overtone Software today announced the upcoming release of its archiving solution for Microsoft SharePoint ® Portal Server, extending the low overhead, high-performance architecture of the ManageTone™ product family to the Microsoft’s industry-leading enterprise-level solution for the corporate knowledge base..

ManageTone™ for MS SharePoint is designed to allow IT administrators to keep SharePoint® Portal servers running at peak efficiency, by archiving inactive documents, versions, and workspaces to secure secondary storage while leaving intelligent pointers (DOT ™ files) on primary storage. Migrated data objects continue to appear as if still resident on primary server when in fact the content has been migrated to secondary storage or to tape. Overtone Software accomplishes this by natively identifying data objects meeting age, content, and closure, without adding to server or license overhead.
